The x'tian is the one born by the word of God- the word born again. The Christian has got the life of God in him and operates by a different set of rules. Not of this worlds standard, that's why the world will never understand a true Christian. See, the word of God gives birth to the word of God and nothing else.As he IS so are you on this earth.
if you are born again, realize who you are and don't live below this standard. You are a word practitioner, you don't obey the word of God or try to do the word of God, you just do it, it's by default! Hallelujah!
The x'tian is the righteousness of God. The x'tian doesn't try to be righteous or grow in holiness by the day. Righteousness is not according to your acts. Rom 5:17- For if by one man's offence, death reigned by one, much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. We are the righteousness of God in christ Jesus.
1Cor. 1:30 - God has been made unto us wisdom & righteousness.
The x'tian is the rightness of God, the spiirt of the x'tian has the ability to do right at all times, this is what gives the Christian ability to stand in the presence of God without guilt, inferiority or condemnation.
May 9, 2008 If you’re a Christian, you’re already a success. The seed of success was sown inside you when you were born again. Just as every seed must be sown in the right environment and tended, the seed of success has been sown into the fertile soil of your heart. However, it’s your responsibility to take care of it by creating the perfect environment for it. That is, through the Word of God. When you spend time to mediate on the Word of God, you’re enhancing the force of success in your life.
A christian is a word PRACTIONER.I have heard so many times people teach that Christians should try and make every effort to obey the word of God but i have come to realize from pastor Chris's teaching that a christian does not try to obey the word, no! and a hundred times no!
A christian ACTS OUT THE WORD. 2Cor.3:3, Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
A christian is a living epistle. We are born by the word of God. Gone are the days in the old testament, who were instructed to obey cuz they did not have what it took to do the word. But praise God we have the nature of God and are born of God therefore we do the word.
Always have the consciousness that you are empowered to do the word. It's inherent, by nature (the nature of God you have), you are capable of acting out the word of God.
As a christian, you operate by a different set of rules.
Different from what the world has ever known. They will not understand it. That is why you must not be conformed to the world and it's systems but be transformed, Rom 12:2. When there's a casting down, you'll say there's a lifting up, when things seem to go wrong, you'll know that it only gets better with God and that all things are working together for your good.
You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you..... 1 pet. 2:9.
Don't talk like the world, don't live like the rest of the world. You are called into a higher life, speak the word, don't stop talking it. Use the word to change any unfavourable situation around you, cuz the word has a transforming ability. This is why you can never be disadvantaged in life.
Always remember that as a x'tian, you operate by a different set of rules. You should never be found wanting. eg. Daniel & his friends, always stand for God. No matter the circumstance live for him. God is your deliverer and rescuer. Amen!
I noticed something about you dear. That is you really do take your Pastor seriously and that is not a bad thing, honest. But think about this...how can a Christian not be forgiven but justified. We were slaves to sin, condemned to eternal separation from God. Jesus paid the price to redeem us, resulting in our freedom from slavery to sin, and our rescue from the eternal consequences of that sin. I came to the cross with all my sins, the carpenter from Galilee shared his blood for me then He told me "it is finished". Now i stand justified before God. Without the cross "forgiven" one cannot be a Christian. (Ok i made my point but don't think i talk too much ok, i really love your zeal for God's word)
To be justified is to be made free from guilt,(guilt of sin). It also means to be acquitted, to be declared not guilty. Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yes, a christian was forgiven his sin when he became born again but more than that, he is now justified, he's not just only forgiven but he has been acquitted. God no longer recognizes him as slave to sin, no. His nature was nailed to the cross, it died when he died with Jesus,Rom 6:4, and when Jesus rose up from the dead, bible says we were raised with him too (not with our sins) that we should walk in newness of life. This new life is what i am talking about. This new man, has now been justified, he's more than just a forgiven man.
This new life is free from sin and its power, this new life is the actual nature of God, the bible refers to as a 'new man'. Bible says in 2Cor. 5:17, Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
So you see a Christian is not just a forgiven man, not just a redeemed man, but God has given a christian a higher life through his death. God gave his very nature that now, he is like God himself and that Kind of life is called ZOE or ETERNAL life.
In John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.
It says I AM COME THAT YE MAY HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MAY HAVE MORE ABUNDANTLY. That is the reason for his coming! He did not come just to forgive us, no! He came to give us life, the God-kind of life.
So now you see why a christian is not a forgiven man, he's more than that, he's justified. He's now the righteousness of God.
James 1:18 says,Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
We are a type of creature, a new species all together.
I will suggest that you get Pastors message on 'Who Is A Christian' and you'll understand better. If you'd like me to help you get one, let me know.
Hi Theodora, I was glad to receive your reply to the issue about the Christian not being a forgiven man. First of all let me say I do regard you highly as a person from what I have heard and the few times I have seen you as at the café. And I hope that as these discussions go back and forth I do not become cerebral and forget that the ultimate goal is to arrive at the truth which is personified in the person of Christ. So please bear with me as I respond to a few of the issues you raised in your submission. I may be wrong but I presume what you are getting us is that forgiveness is merely a one time event in a Christians life. And that after that he or she no longer requires forgiveness, which is what I get from the statement you use “a Christian is not a forgiven man, he's more than that, he's justified. He's now the righteousness of God.” My problem with this is that you try to remove the foundation of a building and still expect it to stand. Once there is no cross (forgiveness) then we have no message as Christians. Jesus’ agenda captured in Matthew 1:21 “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." You cannot take away the order. Forgiveness is required before justification will take place but once that is done you cannot do away with the fact that we are forgiven people.
You see we run the risk of thinking that once we have become Christians, we will no longer have a struggle with sin. Actually, Paul talks about his struggle with sin in Romans 7:18,19: "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do – this I keep on doing.”
When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we experienced the wonderful cleansing power of His blood, which was shed on the cross for us over 2,000 years ago. We had an overwhelming feeling of freedom and release from the bondage of sin and death when we first repented from our old lives and turned to Christ. Then, the following dilemma began to occur as the weeks and months went by – we found ourselves tempted to return to sinful patterns of thinking and acting. It became difficult to accept that we would still continue to sin because we are children of the King: righteous, new creations in Christ, called to be holy as He is holy.
But the truth is, we are still sinners and will always battle with sin in our lives because we are inwardly bent towards sin. That is the reason God says in His Word that we need to confess our sins and rely on His promise to cleanse us: • "Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD' – and you forgave the guilt of my sin” (Psalm 32:5). • “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). These verses remind us that: 1. As Christians we will still sin. 2. Though we are commanded not to sin, there is forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Sometimes pride keeps us from admitting our sin or keeps us from forgiving ourselves when we sin as Christians. When this happens we need to tell ourselves the truth about who we still are... sinners saved by grace. What we must do is to begin to live in God's grace and accept His ongoing, unconditional forgiveness for the sins we still battle, or the memory of past sin in our life. Realize that as a Christian, we still need to recognize and confess sin in our life.
Remember that God's love “covers a multitude of sins" (1 Peter 4:8). We don't know our hearts very well, but God knows us and His forgiveness is complete and eternal because Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for our sins and "not for our sins only, but the sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:1-2). Thanks for reading through.
